Compliments and complaints
The taxi and private hire licensing section is committed to providing a quality transport service within the taxi and private hire trade and welcome feedback in any form be it compliment, complaint or comment. 

How to make a complaint
If you if you are unhappy with any aspect of the service we provide please follow the guidance below;

1) Appeals
If you wish to appeal against a  suspension, revocation or refusal to grant a licence please contact the Magistrates Courts within 21 days of the date on the decision letter.

2) Council contracts
If you wish to appeal against a refusal to grant a Council permit to a vulnerable/ special needs person escort or a vehicle being used under a Council contract to Social Services or Education to drive such a person please write to:

3) Corporate livery
If you wish to appeal against a refusal to approve corporate livery on wheelchair accessible taxi, please write to:

4) Tariff increase
If you wish to raise an objection against a proposed tariff increase, please write to:

5) General complaints against a licensed driver, operator and/ or vehicle
If you wish to make a complaint regarding lost property, rudeness, lateness, overcharging, refuse to carry, parking nuisance, noise nuisance, behaviour, service, fares, cleanliness, please contact the private hire operator or taxi association in the first instance. 

If you have already attempted to resolve the issue with them with no success, please contact us using the details at the top of this page and we will carry out further investigations and refer the matter to the police, etc, where appropriate.

Customer satisfaction
The taxi and private hire licensing section undertake regular customer satisfaction surveys.  The feedback from these surveys is vital to the success and development of the taxi and private hire licensing section.  We will let you know what the outcomes are of these surveys and what we have done in response to them.
