Starting a business

A range of support is available from Leeds City Council and partner organisations for people who want to start their own business or become self employed.

We can run searches on our database of commercial property to help you identify suitable premises.

A wide range of advice and support is available for start up businesses via Business Link Yorkshire. We can also put you in touch with business networks set up to support companies in key sectors of the economy.

Leeds Chamber of Commerce can also provide start up companies with access to expert advice on tax, employment law, insurance and financial matters. Their business advisers can also provide targeted databases, market research and advice on specialist training programmes.

The Sharing the Success programme also offers advice and support for people looking to start their own business in some of the most disadvantaged communities across the city. Sharing the Success offers everything from training and advice to physical business premises and incubation space. This programme is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund programme that is investing over £500m to increase employment and enterprise by 2013.
