Synchronised swimming is a mixture of swimming, gymnastics and dance. Swimmers perform a synchronized routine of elaborate moves in water, accompanied by music.
It is a sport that can be enjoyed by both boys and girls of any age (6years+) depending only on their ability to swim (see minimum entry standard required by the clubs below).
There are three clubs in Leeds that cater for synchronised swimming

Leeds Kingfishers are based at the Kippax leisure centre.
Minimum entry standard: ability to swim 50 metres and pick up an object from the pool floor.

Pudsey Pearls are based at Pudsey leisure centre and Aireborough leisure centre. Preferred standard; City of Leeds Dolphin 8 (swimming) or any City of Leeds Dolphin synchronised swimming certificate or equivalent
Both clubs are Amateur Swimming Association (ASA) affiliated and compete in local and national events.
Water Polo is a team sport which incorporates swimming, and some elements of handball and football. Players pass a ball whilst being defended by opponents, and score by throwing the ball into a net defended by a goalie.
Sessions are available for both adults and juniors.

Morley leisure centre have both juniors and adult (16years +) sessions. Minimum entry requirement is the ability to swim 100m, everyone welcome, just turn up. Thursday 7pm - 10pm.

City of Leeds water polo team train at Armley leisure centre. The club are looking for new members and anyone interested in playing should turn up Monday evenings at 8pm.

White Rose canoe club
Suitable for young people of any age (must be able to swim 50m or, if disabled, be happy to go underwater). Sessions are run at Fearnville leisure centre from September to April, outside school holidays.
Lifesaving clubs

Leeds Phoenix lifesaving club at the Aquatics centre, John Charles centre for sport. Club training takes place on Thursdays from 6pm - 8pm. Sessions available for Rookies (Have Dolphin 6 award or higher), seniors and adults. The seniors are looking to expand with more swimmers to build up the competition base.

Scott Hall lifesaving club – Tuesday evenings (term time only) at Scott Hall leisrue centre, 7pm – 10.15pm (various classes) entry level is either ASA Gold award or ability to swim 200m.
