Leeds City Council’s Bodyline training offers a wide range of courses and workshops for people wanting to work within the health and fitness industry. The courses are accredited at level 2 on the national qualifications framework and allow entry onto the register of exercise professionals (REP’s) at level 2.

Whether you are interested in a new career or just want to improve your existing knowledge we have a course to suit you.

All courses are delivered and assessed to a high standard by qualified and experienced tutors and assessors. The tutors and assessors all work within the industry and can therefore provide invaluable support and guidance during your studies.

Courses offered

Active IQ level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing (Gym)
Candidates will train to a professionally competent level, enabling them to prescribe, plan and deliver safe and effective exercise programmes within a gym or health club environment.

Active IQ Certificate in Fitness Instructing (Exercise to Music)
Candidates will train to a professionally competent level, enabling them to prescribe, plan and deliver safe and effective exercise sessions within a studio environment.

Attendance
All courses are run on a part time basis with differing start times throughout the year and a further distance learning option is being considered at present and may be available in late 2008.

Entry requirements
There are no formal entry requirements. The courses are aimed at adults aged 16+ who wish to pursue a career in the health and fitness industry. Some experience in the discipline you are studying (i.e. gym or exercise to music) is highly recommended, and, as all the courses require physical exertion and individual participation, a degree of physical fitness is necessary.

Career opportunities
On successful completion of the course candidates will have the ability to seek employment within leisure centres, health clubs or through self employment. We can also offer advise on further training and development within the industry.
