 Local History Lunchtime Talks 
 
"Leeds Peace Convention of 1917"  by Michael Meadowcroft 
 
Join us for our next Local History lunchtime talk to hear Michael Meadowcroft deliver a talk on the Leeds Peace Convention of 1917.  The talk takes place on Friday 15th June, in the 3rd floor Meeting Room, at the Leeds Central Library, 1-2pm. No booking is required, but places are limited to 50 people. For more information on the other talks in this series please see the attached leaflet on the right hand side.
 
 
Family history learning sessions 

Are you interested in leaning how to research your family tree? The Local and Family History Library runs two family history learning sessions that can help with your research. The sessions take place at the Leeds Central Library and those on offer include:

  • Family History for Beginners: this workshop is aimed at beginners and introduces learners to the basic steps involved in researching family history. For more information on dates and times, please see the PDF document in the list on the right hand side.
  • Tracing your Family History online: this session introduces people to the various online resources available to family historians. For more information on dates and times, please contact us on 0113 247 8290 or email localstudies@leedslearning.net

About us 

The Local and Family History Library aims to acquire, conserve and make available to the public all materials published on Leeds and significant publications on Yorkshire, with the emphasis on West Yorkshire. The library holds about 180,000 items including books, journals, directories, maps, photographs and prints, playbills and microfilms.

The library is concerned with two distinct subject areas

Local History - anything to do with Leeds and Yorkshire – history, geography, religion, education and natural history.

Family History – a fast-growing area of popularity, for which we have a wide variety of resources.

Research services 
If you are unable to visit the library, staff will answer quick enquiries received by e-mail, letter or telephone free of charge. For more detailed research requests a charge is made, £5.10 per 30 minutes for Leeds residents and £10.25 per 30 minutes for customers who live outside Leeds.
