Over 600 major and community events are staged within parks ranging from Party and Opera in the Park, the Mela and Classical Fantasia to local bonfires, brass band concerts, fun runs and educational activities.
Firework safety
The firework safety advice website gives year-round information about firework legislation and using fireworks safely.
Good practice safety guide for events
You can download advice from the Home Office that will help to ensure safety at public events from this page.
The guidance sets out good practice advice for organisers of carnivals, charity and small-scale sporting events and has been designed to ensure that such events are as safe as possible for the public and participants.
The guide is not intended to take the place of a detailed event safety code issued by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) but to act as an easily accessible tool to help plan and produce events.
If you would like to host an event within a park such as a sponsored walk, community gala or fairground please contact the Parks and Countryside Department.
Please note that the Parks and Countryside's Head Office main reception telephone number 0113 3957400 is staffed from 8.00am - 4.30pm Monday to Thursday and 8.00am - 4.00pm on a Friday. Outside of these hours you can leave a message on the answerphone.
