Home Care

Many people feel strongly that they want to live independently and confidently in their own home, without becoming too dependent on the help of others, or having to move into residential care. We're making some changes to the way homecare is delivered in Leeds to help more people to do this. Leeds has set up a new reablement service to help people get their independence back after an accident or health setback.

How to get home care in Leeds

Support is available to help you continue to live as independently as possible in your own home.

Staff can visit you to help with personal care - for example, eating and drinking, washing and dressing, getting up or going to bed, going to the toilet and taking medication.

Choosing and paying for your own home care
Anyone can arrange home care privately if they want to choose and pay for it themselves - and there are many agencies which can help. Visit Leeds Directory or call the Directory helpline on 0113 391 8333 for further information and advice.

Home care arranged by the council
To get home care from Adult Social Care you would first need to have an assessment. This means that someone from Social Care will arrange to visit you to talk about the support you need at home.

To arrange an assessment, call us on 0113 222 4401.

Help around the home

For advice about how you can find people to help with things like gardening or cleaning windows, finding mobile hairdressers and shops that deliver, visit Leeds Directory, where you can search easily for local services (or ring the friendly helpline for advice on 0113 391 8333!).
