Leeds City Council has prepared this policy to comply with the requirements of the Food Standards Agency (FSA) Food Law Code of Practice (revised June 2008) and Practice Guidance issued under the Food Safety Act 1990.
The policy sets out Leeds City Council's general approach to food sampling. The document was revised in January 2010
This sampling policy covers all samples taken by the Health and Environmental Action Service Food and Health Team including those not taken in accordance with FSA Code of Practice and other samples obtained by the sampling unit for milk and dairy products, drinking and leisure/swimming pool waters and imported foods. It does not include sampling done for compositional and labelling issues which are enforced by the West Yorkshire Trading Standards Service.
