This sets out a description of the historic development of the Kirkgate area as well as identifying elements of its character that makes it an area of special architectural and historic interests.
When considering planning applications this will help us preserve the character and appearance of the conservation area.
The plan provides proposals for the management of the Kirkgate area and emphasises the use of complimentary strategies such as economic and social history of the conservation area, define the built environment of traditional building patterns, design and architecture, and the natural environment and more including:
- focusing upon the need for enhancement and promoting improvement to take advantage of grants which may become available in the future.
- Kirkgate Special interest emphasising historical significance
- Outlining challenges, strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats faced by the area
- highlighting planning polices
- potential local partnerships
- design framework
- conservation awareness and training
- community Support
- measuring effectiveness of the management plan.
