Parks and Countryside manage over 200 play areas across the city. These include:

Multi use games areas (MUGA's) - These generally consist of a fenced, hard surfaced area, marked up for numerous different ball games with goal ends, cricket wickets, basket ball hoops being included.

Playgrounds - A vast multitude of play equipment with challenging and futuristic designs for all age ranges and abilities. All new playground equipment complies with European Standard EN1176/7.

Skate parks- These areas consist of timber/steel and concrete construction, incorporating quarter pipes, half pipes, transition boxes, grind rails. These facilities differ from site to site and are available for use by skateboarders, in-line skaters and BMX riders.

Teen zones- A variety of themed shelters set in parks and greenspace areas where teenagers can meet.

New and refurbished play areas - Work to improve the following play areas are due to be refurbished this financial year.; Church Street in Hunslet and Beggars Hill in Beeston. In addition a new play area is to be built at Reginald Terrace in Chapel Allerton.

Parks and Countryside try to make each of these facilities as safe as possible with a regular inspections and maintenance, including de-littering, and the removal of broken glass.
