The Leeds Countryside Rangers work to promote and protect wildlife in your local area.  Our work focuses on nature conservation sites that are managed for the benefit of wildlife.  There are over 150 of these in Leeds, ranging from the beautiful wildflower meadows of Townclose Hills to the ancient oak woodlands of Middleton Woods and the moors and crags of Otley Chevin

The work of the Countryside Ranger team is varied and changes with the seasons, but most falls into the following five areas:

  • Flora and fauna surveys
  • Practical work
  • Working with local communities
  • Environmental education
  • Events and activities

Information on our events and activities can be found in the Leeds Countryside Events leaflet, which can be downloaded from this page as a pdf.  If you would like further information or to be put on the mailing list please email us or call (0113) 237 5268.
