Volunteering with the youth service

Have you ever thought about volunteering to work with young people?

If you have, then maybe you’d like to volunteer with the Youth Service? There are always opportunities and these will probably be in your own community, if that suits you best.

The Youth Service provides opportunities for young people to engage in a range of informal learning activities, some of which are accredited and encourage young people to be involved in the design and development of these activities.

There are lots of different activities you could get involved in, including:

  • supporting a regular youth club where you can share any particular skills you might have or just help out generally,
  • supporting groups when they go out on trips and visits
  • assisting on a particular project e.g. outdoor activity, accredited programme such as the Duke of Edinburgh Award
  • working with other parents to establish a club for younger children in your community or maybe register as a volunteer minibus driver.

Obviously all volunteers will need to agree to a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check to ensure that they are the right people to work with the Service.

There is a simple form to complete that allows us to check whether you have any criminal offences that would suggest you were not suitable to work with young people. If you are suitable and would like to register as a volunteer, we will provide you with a valuable and rewarding experience supporting young people in reaching their potential.

If you are interested in working with young people and would like to get involved in supporting youth services, please contact us via the e-mail link or contact number above. If you wish to work in a particular area let us know that too and we will refer your enquiry as appropriate.
