School catering

Fresh vegetables

Leeds City Council provides school meals for 205 primary and special schools, 20 high schools and 27 early years and children's centres in Leeds.

There is a choice of meals each day for school pupils and we also provide special menus for children from different ethic groups. If your child needs a special diet which is recommended by a doctor or hospital we can also arrange this.

The meals we serve in our schools give your children at least a third of their daily nutritional needs of energy, vitamins and calcium. We serve a variety of main meals, salads, vegetables and puddings including fresh fruit and yoghurts. We don't use additives which are harmful, mechanically recovered meat or genetically modified ingredients. All meals served within our schools meet central government guidelines for nutritional value and health and safety.

To find out more about what we are doing to make sure all our school meals are nutritionally balanced, you can download our school meals policy using the link on the right. We are happy to talk to teachers, parents, governors and pupils to find out what you want from the school meal service. We will try to meet your needs and if we can’t, we will tell you why. You can find details of how to contact us in the top right hand corner of this page.

You can also pay for school meals using our online system, which is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and it's very simple to use.
