About us
Leeds City Council provides school meals for 201 primary and special schools, 10 high schools and 30 early years and children's centres in Leeds.
Menus and special diets
The meals we serve in our schools give your children at least a third of their daily nutritional needs of energy, vitamins and calcium. We serve a variety of main meals, salads, vegetables and puddings including fresh fruit and yoghurts. We don't use additives which are harmful, mechanically recovered meat or genetically modified ingredients. All meals served within our schools meet the Governments Food and Nutrient Standards.
To find out more about what we are doing to make sure all our school meals are nutritionally balanced, you can download our school meals policy using the link on the right. We are happy to talk to teachers, parents, governors and pupils to find out what you want from the school meal service. We will try to meet your needs and if we can’t, we will tell you why. You can find details of how to contact us in the top right hand corner of this page. If you would like to be sent an electronic copy of your child's menu please email liz.roarty@leeds.gov.uk.
There is a choice of meals each day for school pupils and we also provide special menus for children from different ethic groups. If your child needs a special diet which is recommended by a doctor or hospital we can also arrange this.
You can also pay for school meals using our online system, which is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and it's very simple to use.
