Regeneration activity in Leeds is about improving those areas that have fallen behind the rest of the city, and helping them to reach their potential as places where people want to live, work, play and invest. In doing this, we aim to make our neighbourhoods more healthy, thriving and welcoming.

In Leeds we have a successful city centre and a strong local economy. Some parts of the city still face some significant challenges related to employment, housing and health. We work with our partners to

  • link local people to local jobs across Leeds
  • support people to start their own businesses
  • improve the choice, quality and affordability of homes
  • improve green space, recreation and quality of the environment
  • create good community spirit
  • improve transport connections between neighbourhoods and the city centre
  • create safe and secure neighbourhoods

Regeneration activity

We deliver a wide range of regeneration activity, including large-scale affordable housing schemes, jobs and skills support and local environmental initiatives. Neighbourhood Management Teams work with local residents, groups and organisations to make sure the needs of the neighbourhoods are met.

Some of the activity takes place across the whole of Leeds, and some of it is targeted at certain parts of the city where there is a concentration of need and deprivation.
