The Townscape Heritage Initiative (THI) is a Heritage Lottery Fund programme providing money to help communities repair and regenerate the historic environment in towns across the UK.
In Leeds there are two established THI schemes in Armley and Chapeltown and we are currently bidding for funding for a third for Lower Kirkgate.
Armley Townscape Heritage Initiative
A total of £1.4 million is being invested in Armley town centre improving select historic buildings on Branch Road and Town Street. The funding has also contributed to the recently improved paving and public realm on Town Street.
Chapeltown Townscape Heritage Initiative
Chapeltown Road will benefit from £1.1 million to restore Victorian and Edwardian commercial properties.
Lower Kirkgate Townscape Heritage Initiative
The team are working on a Stage II bid to secure £2.16 million to revitalise the Lower Kirkgate Area and help secure a sustainable future for the First White Cloth Hall.
