This group has been set up to promote and celebrate Chapeltown's heritage and historic environment. We meet every four months. If you are interested in history and would like to join us please get in touch.

Blue plaques
Leeds Civic Trust have approved eight potential blue plaques for Chapeltown. Download the shortlist on the right.
So far two plaques have been unveiled:
- Brandsby Lodge - home of Sir Charles Wilson, MP between 1902-1927 (now part of the Northern School of Contemporary Dance)
- Mrs Gertrude Paul - the first black head teacher to be employed by Leeds Education Authority
We have raised funding for two more:
- 21 Leopold Street - the first mosque in Leeds (as well as being home to two synagogues between 1924 - 1960)
- The New Leeds Synagogue (now also part of the Northern School of Contemporary Dance)
