Conservation in Armley
Armley THI scheme is within the Armley Conservation area which was designated on 19 October 2007. The purpose of the conservation area was to include all the features which represent the growth of the settlement. Armley has long been overlooked, but it has a rich and varied historic environment.
Armley THI heritage awareness sessions
Armley residents, architects, building surveyors, contractors and trainees have attended a series of heritage based events which took place between May and October 2011. Alan Gardner Associates presented lectures and outdoor demonstartions which included demonstration stalls at the popular Armley Fun Day. These events highlighted the importance of using traditional techniques and materials on historic buldings and the damage that modern techniques and materials can cause to historic buildings.
The final event is based on the repair of wood windows and this is proposed to take place in Spring 2012. If you would like to be informed about this event please refer to the Heritage Programme document for contact details.
