You can pay your council tax:
- in monthly instalments;
- in a lump sum when you get your bill;
- in half-yearly instalments.
Your council tax is payable in monthly instalments, unless you have agreed to pay in a lump sum or half-yearly. Those instalments are due on the 10th of the month, so payments should be on your Council Tax account by that date. If you choose to pay by direct debit you have a choice of three dates: The 10th of the month, the 20th of the month or the last day of the month. Direct debit payers can also choose to pay over twelve months rather than ten.
If you pay by direct debit, standing order, telephone banking, online banking or over the internet, your payment reaches your council tax account automatically. That helps us to keep our costs down, which helps to keep your council tax lower.
The easiest way to pay is by direct debit.
All you have to do is ring 0113 222 4404 with your bank account details and we will do the rest. Or you can download the direct debit instruction form attached to this page, print it off and fill it in, then post it to us. Then each month on the due dates, we will ask your bank for payment direct from your bank account. You will not have to queue up to pay, write out a cheque or even remember when your payments are due.
