At Home service - volunteers needed

Leeds Library and Information Service is looking for volunteers for the new At Home service volunteer programme. The At Home service is popular and provides home delivery to anyone who lives in Leeds and can no longer access the library, for whatever reason. The volunteers provide a link from the customers to the Library service and may provide a vital social connection to the outside world.

Are you interested?
As a volunteer you would need to commit 2 - 3 hours a month of your time and deliver items to customers at least once every three weeks. No special qualifications are required as training and guidance will be given – just an interest in books and a willingness to spend time with library members who are confined to their homes.

You do need to be fit enough to carry books, which can be heavy, and all volunteers are subject to enhanced Criminal Records Bureau checks.

The At Home service volunteer programme is currently running in the following libraries:  Armley, Chapel Allerton, Garforth, Halton, Headingley, Horsforth, Moor Allerton, Morley, Oakwood, Otley, Pudsey, Rothwell and Wetherby.
