Leeds has almost 500 sites throughout the city for residents to recycle a variety of materials.  These sites are available to use 24 hours a day 7 days a week and accept extra materials to your green recycling bin.

The materials that can be recycled include:

  • glass
  • paper (newspapers, magazines and books)
  • unwanted clothes and shoes
  • food tins
  • drinks cans
  • plastic bottles and bags

Recycling bring sites, often known as bottle or paper banks, and are usually found in the car parks of supermarkets, shops and public houses.  Find your nearest site and what you can recycle there.

Most of these sites are on private land and we are grateful for the support of the land owner in the city's efforts to recycle and reuse unwanted items.  It is very important we all play out part in keeping these sites clean and tidy.  Please do your bit by only taking the correct items and take boxes and bags home to reuse or recycle in your green bin.

To report that

  • any site is not clean and tidy
  • banks are full or overflowing
  • you would like to know where your nearest recycling bank is and what you can recycle there
  • you have any suggestions for suitable locations for new recycling banks

Please telephone or text the bottle bank enquiry line on 07891 277226 or the environmental contact centre on 0113 2224406.

The environmental contact centre is open Monday to Friday 8 am to 6 pm and is busiest on Monday mornings.
