We provide a free service to educate and provide information to adults and young people across Leeds. The range of activities we offer are:
- Attendance at groups, for example, Women’s Institute, tenant associations, scout, guide, beavers and brownies to discuss a wide range of waste related topics.
The topics we can cover include:
- Recycling
- Real nappies
- Composting at home
- Community and City Pride – help and advice to arrange a community clean up
- Reduction and reuse of waste at home
We can provide sessions for young people tailored to the age of the group, these are usually interactive and allow children and young adults to have fun whilst learning. Talks for adult groups are usually in presentation format followed by a question and answer session. If your group would prefer to discuss any other format please contact the team on 0113 395 1520, please leave a message on the answering machine if you call out of office hours. These are Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Provide 'Reduce, Reuse and Recycle' quizzes to adults and young people which are a fun and interactive way for all ages to learn. Sessions usually take from 30 – 45 minutes but can be tailored to different time scales and audiences.
- Arrange informative visits for groups to many of our household waste sorting sites situated across the city and the material recycling facility (MRF) in Beeston. These visits usually last 45 minute and are followed by a question and answer session. Risk assessments will be provided in advance, please note the maximum size of a group is 15 people.
- Attend out door events, drop in sessions and information days with our leaflets and are happy to answer questions and even provide a composting game at the display stand for people to get involved.
The team work are willing to attend events during the day, at evenings and weekends.
