We are in the process of improving our on line booking facilities for bulky household waste. In the meantime, please telephone the contact centre on 0113 2224406 to book a collection date.

Please remember the environmental contact centre is open Monday to Friday between 08:00 - 18:00. Please be aware that Monday morning is the busiest time at the contact centre. 

The crews will take four large items or ten bags at any one time. The crew will only take listed items.  Residents will be asked to leave the items in a safe, convenient place on their property by no later than 7am on the collection day. The gate must be unlocked, no cars on the drive and any dogs must be kept in the house or on a lead on the day of collection.

Please remember

Items will be collected on your collection date between 7am and 5pm.

If you change any items that are due to be collected or you no longer require a collection then please contact us giving us at least two days before your collection is due. 
 
Below are the items we can and cannot take.  If there are any other items not listed please contact the call centre and they will advise you.

We can take

  1. Furniture - chairs, sofas, tables, wardrobes (dismantled), sideboards, bed base, mattress etc.
  2. Doors - internal and external, glass panels should be made safe.
  3. Carpets - including underlay.  This must be kept dry to ensure they are not too heavy for the collectors.  It is better if they are folded or rolled for easy of carrying. (Into manageable pieces).
  4. White goods - fridge, freezer, cooker, washing machine and tumble dryers (any doors or locks on air tight fridges etc must be removed).
  5. Wood/Branches - these must be bundled up into manageable amounts and there are no dangerous nails etc sticking out.
  6. Garden Waste/twigs or branches - ensure this is double bagged or bundled together and manageable.
  7. Sheds - broken into manageable bundles (please note anything over 6ft tall can not be taken).
  8. Tyres - only 4 car tyres.
  9. Electrical equipment - TVs, microwaves, sun beds without the tubes in them etc.
  10. Glass items need to be made safe.

We cannot take 

  1. Gas bottles.
  2. Bathroom suites - including sinks, baths and toilets.
  3. Kitchens - including sinks, cupboards, basic units and worktops.
  4. Building material - including rubble.
  5. Car parts – including batteries.
  6. Pianos/organs.
  7. Boilers/storage heaters/radiators.
  8. General waste un-bagged.
  9. Green houses.
  10. Hazardous material – including chemicals, paint and asbestos.
  11. Tree trunks.
  12. Mirrors/patio doors/windows.
  13. Garage doors.
  14. Fluorescent light tube.
