Public weighbridge

Leeds City Council provides facilities to the public to weigh their vehicles.

Where are the public weigh bridges?
Leeds City Council currently operates one weighbridge at Kirkstall Household Waste Sorting Site.

The weighbridge at East Leeds Household Waste Sorting Site, is not currently available due to redevelopment work. For further details please read the Notice to trade customers using East Leeds Household Waste Sorting Site

Why does Leeds City Council provide this service?
The weighbridge is primarily used to weigh the material that enters and leaves the site to comply with Environment Agency requirements to provide tonnage information of waste handled.

Additionally we have registered a number of people with West Yorkshire Trading Standards to be qualified to offer public weighs to the public and any trade organisations that may wish to use our services. For this we have to ensure that only trained personnel carry out the weighs and the weighbridge needs to be calibrated every 6 months or following any repairs.

How much does the weigh bridge facility cost?
For people to use the public weigh service we charge a fee of £6.91 inclusive of VAT and we always issue a printed weigh ticket informing of the vehicle details, driver details and weight etc.
