The council's travellers service is responsible for liaising with gypsies and travellers in the Leeds area. We also manage Cottingley Springs, the council’s permanent site for travellers on Gelderd Road in South Leeds.
Cottingley Springs caravan site was built by Leeds City Council in 1969, following the introduction of the Caravan Sites Act 1968. This law made it the responsibility of every local authority to provide sites for travelling communities that wish to stay in their area. The site today provides 41 families with their own plot, electricity and washing and toilet facilities in a utility block.
You can contact us for advice at Pudsey one stop centre, LS28 7BL.
