Arranging a break – where to start

In most cases, you will need to start by having an assessment by Adult Social Care. This is a meeting between you and Social Care staff to discuss the type of break you need and the care needs of the person you usually look after.

Daytime activities and support for the person you care for

Of course, you also get a break from caring if the person you look after takes part in a daytime activity outside the home. There are various activities run by day centres, community centres and other council or voluntary organisations, for people with different kinds of care needs.
