Employment and Skills offer a range of services and programmes aimed at moving unemployed people into jobs or training.

We have a citywide network of Jobshops which provide support to people who find it difficult to access training and employment. Our Jobshops offer a free, impartial, face-to-face information, advice and guidance (IAG) service on jobs and training opportunities, as well as providing help with preparing or updating a curriculum vitae (CV), support with completing application forms and internet access for employment and job searches. Jobshop sessions are also provided at venues across the city - follow the links on the right hand side of the page to find your nearest session.

Employment and Skills are a key contributor to the regeneration of communities. The Employment Leeds team work with business partners to get people into work; providing a flexible and co-ordinated service to businesses seeking to invest, expand or develop in Leeds and promotes their job opportunities to local people.

Work4Leeds Apprenticeships is administered by Employment and Skills and is the corporate employer-led Apprenticeship programme. It forms part of the our recruitment strategy to employ more apprentices within the organisation.

The NHS Employability Programme is a partnership with the Leeds Teaching Hospital Trust. It provides opportunities for local unemployed people to train and gain work experience in a hospital environment, in preparation for work as a clinical support worker.

Adult Learning provides local and accessible learning to families and adults across Leeds. Learning takes place in over two hundred different locations throughout the city offering sessions in everything from aromatherapy, basic computing or family pottery to popular singing. Learning can be for fun, lead to qualifications or for personal and community development.

The Neighbourhood Learning team provide support to community groups, voluntary and faith sector groups and other organisations that offer learning opportunities to adults aged 19 years and over.

Employment and Skills also work in partnership with Leeds College of Building to provide construction training.
