Pavement advertising

Example of clean media

Advertising on pavements is relatively new to Leeds. We need to manage this type of advertising to provide a good service and to protect the new paved areas in the pedestrian area.

We have agreed a 12 month trial of pavement advertising in selected locations with Curb Media. They were one of the first national operators in this market and have agreed to work exclusively with the council for one year to explore this advertising media in Leeds.

The agreement is in 2 parts

  • Curb Media have the exclusive right to place pavement advertisements in selected locations in Leeds city centre.
  • We approves all advertising in advance and each advertisement carries a small line of text  natural media for Leeds by Curb.

Curb Media will work with us to identify the source of any unauthorised advertising and support the council enforcement team in removal.

The approved locations are

  • City Square
  • Park Row to Millennium Square
  • Merrion Street
  • Neville St
  • Boar Lane

The council’s enforcement team and city centre liaison officers will help monitor this scheme, identifying and reporting any unauthorised advertising in the city centre.

The trial runs for 12 months from 1st January 2011 and will enable the council to evaluate pavement advertising. During the trial council officers will compile information and eventually produce a report with recommendations for the future of pavement advertising.  We welcome public opinions on the pavement advertising trial and you can add your comments by following this link to the Talking Point consultation pages.  Please click here  to register your comments.
