The threshold under which properties will be exempt from unoccupied rates was announced in the pre budget speech on 9 December 2009.
The figure has been increased in line with the general revaluation from £15,000 to £18,000 from 1 April 2010.
The threshold will remain at this level for the full financial year 2010/2011. It will then return the previous lower level, adjusted in line with general revaluation, to £2,600 from 1 April 2011.
