Vine core values

Teaching and learning - Vine makes learning both accessible and useful to learners and make links with other parts of their lives. In this way it is hoped skills can be transferred and learners can reach their full potential. All staff work to national quality benchmarks ensuring high standards support our aims. As the programme progresses any achievement is recognised and recorded in a way learners can understand.

The learners - staff ensure the learners are recognised and respected as individuals. Each learner has a part to play in a responsible inclusive community. Vine work in an empathetic and intensive way to make sure each learner gets an education that delivers choice and opportunity.

The community - there are many aspects of the community that can engage learners. Staff co-ordinate as many of these opportunities as possible and promote joint responsibility in sharing the learning experience.

Families and carers - families and carers are welcome on a regular basis and the Vine team believe a mutual respect will help reach shared aspirations.

The staff - the Vine team are professional, caring and committed to the needs of the learners. They are respected by a wide range of individual agencies, parents and voluntary sector organisations as providing an inclusive education. They achieve great success in helping learners achieve independent living within their own community.

Supported living for people with learning disabilities (QUIPS)

Quality Inclusive Pathways (QUIP'S) is a supported living project helping young people with learning disabilities live independently. It uses a modern five bedroom flat within student halls in the centre of Leeds. Young people live in the flat from Monday to Friday returning home at weekends and holidays. Support staff are available 24 hours a day.

While staying at the flat young people are supported to be as independent as possible and to use skills they learn with Vine in a home environment.

To be eligible to access the QUIPs project people should be aged 19-25, have a learning disability and be in education for 12 hours or more a week.
