The Office for National Statistics (ONS) releases mid year population estimates and population projections every two years.
Mid-year estimates of population
Each year the Office for National Statistics (ONS) produces population estimates for local authority areas in England and Wales. Over recent years ONS has been engaged in an extensive programme of work to improve the way in which it calculates these estimates and in 2010 this resulted in the publication of a revised back-series of data covering the years from 2002 to 2008.
Sub-national population projections
Every two years the ONS issue population projections for local authority areas in England and Wales. The projections use a base year and project into the future (generally up to 25 years).
