Nursery surplus selling
We sell surplus plants at the nursery on Red Hall Estate, Red Hall Lane, Leeds LS17 8NB, Monday to Friday 8.30am until 3.00pm. All methods of payment are now accepted.
Annual bedding
Spring and summer production amounts to 3 million bedding plants on average, 95% of which are produced from seed. Varieties range from Geraniums and Marigolds to larger items such as Abutilons and Cordylines. Customers include other local authorities, In Bloom groups, schools and parish councils.
Hanging baskets and containers
The nursery produces over 4500 hanging baskets and various containers. Hanging baskets range from the traditional 16" mixed planted basket up to a 24" basket; the majority of these items are produced for the summer season. Other features in three dimension are also produced these include Pudsey Bear, a brown bear and not forgetting Shaun the Sheep. Customers include In Bloom groups, parish councils, businesses, and many other council departments.
Tree, shrubs, roses and herbaceous plants
The nursery sources, purchases and maintains hardy stock until it is required for planting. This includes bare rooted trees and shrubs ranging from young saplings to semi-mature trees. Containerised shrubs arriving in pots from 1 litre up to 300 litres provide instant effect once planted.
Interior planters
Plant displays are an important part of many people's working and learning environment and with the use of live and artificial designs, can help brighten up any situation. The nursery can offer a full range of planters in various styles and designs. We have 700 planters in buildings in the Leeds area, such as Onestop shops and various council offices. These items are mainly supplied on hire and maintenance contracts but can be purchased outright.
Floral decorations
We can provide a hire service that includes temporary planters and individual plant displays for functions in civic buildings, including Christmas displays and charity events in the Civic Hall, Town Hall, schools and many more. Other events have included the world famous piano competition held in Leeds Town Hall.
Pot plants
The nursery produces 120,000 pot plants of various types and sizes, mainly used for decorating the Pudsey Park and Roundhay Park conservatories. They are also used for floral displays and functions within the city. Crops include Poinsettia for Christmas and forced bulbs to produce an early display.

Back ground
The nursery today consists of approximately a 6.5 acre growing area. This includes two acres of glass houses and 4.5 acres of polythene and netlon tunnels. The heart of the nursery today is still the main corridor, but production is situated around the main potting machine, which links the six polythene tunnels and one-acre glasshouse with an automated conveyor that runs for almost quarter of a mile.
The key aim of the nursery is to provide operational support to the many diverse sections of the Parks and Countryside division, at the same time offering a service to the other divisions of Learning and Leisure Services, other council departments and private companies who are committed to Leeds In Bloom. Other customers include In Bloom groups, parish councils and many more.
