Government office for Yorkshire and The Humber

Regional government offices deliver a wide range of central government policies and programmes within the English regions.

The Government Office for Yorkshire and The Humber (GOYH) is based at New Station Street in Leeds city centre. GOYH work closely with local authorities and key public service providers within our region to deliver on key central government priorities like regenerating communities, fighting crime, tackling housing needs, improving public health, raising standards in education and skills, countryside issues, and reducing unemployment.

Feeding a regional perspective back to central government is also a vital part of GOYH's role. This makes sure that developments in government policies take account of local variations and priorities.

The central government departments GOYH represents are:

  • Office of the Deputy Prime Minister.
  • Department for Education and Skills.
  • Department of Trade and Industry.
  • Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
  • Home Office.
  • Department for Culture, Media and Sport.
  • Department for Work and Pensions.
  • Department for Transport.
  • Department of Health.
  • Cabinet Office.
