What is Walkit Leeds?

Walkit Leeds is a pedestrian wayfinding project, aimed at making it easier for people to find their way around Leeds city centre.

A new series of printed walking maps have been created and around 25 on-street signs will be installed in January 2012.

Why?

Walking is a great way of getting around Leeds city centre. The city is very compact and Leeds City Council have spent over £10million refurbishing the streets to make it more attractive and walkable for visitors.

Walkit Leeds style mapping makes the city easy to understand and easy to navigate, it very clearly shows where you can shop, where to eat and drink and where the main places of interest are.

Previously, there had been a wide variety of street based signs which were confusing to the visitor. The Walkit Leeds on-street signage will provide you with a consistent, integrated wayfinding system makes it much easier to find your way around.
